‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
Matthew 25:21
It has been a busy week; too much to do and too little time to do all of it. Maybe I will skip church this week and try to get some extra sleep.
How often have we thought that? Just this once I will skip church. And then it becomes a lot of “onces,” and they add up. More and more excuses of not going on Sunday morning to worship God will inevitably appear. That dedication to community worship will erode.
While God calls us to worship with others on Sunday morning, worship isn’t just reserved for Sunday mornings. Worship is daily living for God’s glory. How do we do that? We focus on maintaining a servant’s attitude of quiet surrender, awaiting the master’s instructions. As we use our time wisely each day, investing ourselves discerningly and enjoying every gift from God, we become more like Jesus and less like the world around us. We live our adoration of our Father.
God also wants us to be faithful to Him. In doing so, He rewards us with spiritual growth. When I stand before God I want Him to say “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Are you being faithful to God? Are you going to church regularly? My prayer for you this week is your demonstration of faithfulness in a few things, and God’s promised reward of many things.
