One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts.
Psalm 145:4
Tomorrow, I have my first mentoring meeting with two young mothers from church. Don’t you love the idea of women helping women? I wish I’d thought of it, but of course I didn’t ~ God did! Imagine the privilege and responsibility of training the next generation of women to ‘love their husbands and children, be self-controlled, be busy at home, to be pure and kind’ (Titus 2:5).
I feel that I am not perfected nearly enough to be training someone else; I have much more experience being out-of-control and selfish than I do being Godly. Yet God continues His work in me. He has seen fit to put these women in my path and incline my heart toward them. Even though I am nervous, God blesses obedience. My prayer today is to be a vessel used by God to help mold these ladies and ultimately their families in a way that glorifies Him.
What will tomorrow be like? I’ve planned a small lesson, put together some get-to-know-you questions, and we’re meeting at a playground so the kids stay busy. I am also praying for them, their marriages, their children, and their walk swith Christ.
Do you see yourself as a godly mentor nurturing others? Don’t you too hope for a godly mentor and so you can be nurtured? How can you be a link in the long generational chain-of-faith? Ask God for help in this area. Then watch as He puts someone on your heart and in your path!
