Shout with joy to God, all the earth! Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious!
Psalm 66:1-2
I cannot sing very well at all. In fact, my husband requests that I just mouth the words when we are singing in church! I do love to sing hymns in my car, though, and an encouraging friend sends me Christian CD’s to listen to on my mp3 player. I know God is working in my heart when I awake in the morning singing hymns.
Praise music is a great way to glorify God in the midst of a busy day. How often do you sing your love of Jesus? Is it just on Sunday morning? Do you have a favorite praise CD in the car? Try visiting a Christian bookstore and browsing the music section for a wide selection of music. You will be amazed at what a difference adding songs of praise can make in your day.
Another great way to praise God is in the Psalms. Open your Bible to any Psalm and just begin to read it aloud, back to God. His many attributes are there in those verses. When you praise God with His own Word, you will leave your prayer time with a lighter, more joyful heart.
Again, when was the last time you shouted with joy to God? When was the last time you said to God “your deeds are awesome!”? Most of us don’t stop long enough in a day to even notice what God has done for us, let alone thank Him for it. Would you be like the psalmist this week and say, “come and listen…let me tell you what HE has done for me?”
