Proper Preparation

Heart Hug From God – Daily Devotional

When you are about to go into battle, the priest shall come forward and address the army. He shall say: “Hear, O Israel, today you are going into battle against your enemies. Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not be terrified or give way to panic before them. For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”

Deuteronomy 20:2-4

Have you ever faced what seemed an impossible task?  Have you prepared to go into a situation that is hostile or could prove dangerous?  That’s exactly where the children of Israel found themselves as they heard the words in today’s scripture.  As they were preparing to enter the land that God had promised them, they received instruction on how to prepare for battle.  Before they were to enter battle, the priest was to speak these words to them.  These words were to serve as a reminder that God goes with them and will fight for them and save them from their enemies.

As you enter into any situation, you can be assured that God goes with you.  There is no need to panic or be afraid. He will be there guiding you and protecting you.  So as you face today’s trials, difficult circumstances, or those who would do you harm, stop and hear Christ speaking these same words to you, “Do not be fainthearted.  Do not be afraid, panic or tremble before them.  I go with you.  I will fight for you against your enemies.  I will save you.”

Lord, help me to start each day remembering that I can confidently face whatever life brings because You promise to go with me, to fight for me, and to save me.
