Praying for my Future Family

Heart Hug From God – Daily Devotional

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

Revelation 22:13

Believing that God is the Alpha and the Omega, I have been inspired to prayerfully petition God’s blessing for my family. I have started to pray for my daughter’s future husband, even though she’s only 16. I am not so wise or insightful; I read the idea in a devotional. I thought it would be a wonderful, invisible gift for my daughter.
It has been difficult praying for someone nebulous, faceless, formless. How old is he now? Is he 16, also, or older? Is he in college now or am I praying for a 25-year old man? Is he a virgin, saving his sexuality for his wife, or is he doing drugs, being promiscuous, and piercing body parts that don’t see the light of day? Maybe he’s a missionary. Maybe he’s a different race or living on the other side of the world. Church-going kid? Atheist/agnostic? Obedient, rebellious, or somewhere in between? Does he have unhealthy habits he needs to break? As a mother, I want to help him with these!  I want to lift his specific needs to the throne of God, while I pray for my daughter’s soul and well-being.
Not knowing him and what he needs from me is hard, but I keep on praying that God sends a godly man for my daughter. God knows who is her future husband and his needs. God knows my daughter and what she needs.  My all-knowing, all-seeing, Alpha-and-Omega God knows the beginning, the middle, and the end. When I don’t have the words, He helps me petition for my future son-in-law.
I just had a thought.  Should I start praying for my future grandkids now, too?
