Oh, How He Loves Me!

Heart Hug From God – Daily Devotional

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

Psalm 139:13

My husband has a friend from the sandbox; they have been friends since the age of 5.  They have a ton of memories together and love each other like brothers. I am a little envious, but in a good way!
His friend ‘Sam’ discarded any belief in God, along with all religious leanings, as soon as the choice was his to make. Interestingly, he’s always wanted a family and dreamed about the kids he would have one day. He has loved his children profoundly and since before they were born. Yesterday, we saw him with his daughters and again, as always, his devotion to them was tenderly displayed.
Sam’s obvious love for his children reminds me of how God loves us – profoundly, completely, literally before we were born. Of course, God didn’t have to imagine what we would be like, as Sam no doubt imagined his children before they were born. God already knew what we would look like, the decisions we would make, and the peaks and valleys of our lives as only He can (Psalm 139:3-6, Jeremiah 1:5a).
So as the psalmist, I declare God as my Creator and Father. I, too, rejoice in being fashioned by His love. Do you acknowledge our Heavenly Parent: a Parent who loved us before we were born?
