May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.
Hebrews 13:20-21
We all struggle with lots of issues and need encouragement along the way. I often want all the answers to everything in one place. Something that will help me get my life in order and together. Well, God did that. He gave us His word to guide us through all situations and encourage us every day.
Hebrews 13 is sometimes called the exhortation chapter because it is the author’s last chance to encourage his readers to stay committed to Christ. He encourages us to live fruitful lives through some very practical suggestions:
· Practice hospitality
· Remember those in prison
· Keep your marriage pure
· Don’t be greedy
· Appreciate God’s grace
· Offer praise to God
· Do good and share with others
· Be obedient to our leaders
· And lastly, pray
So where on that list is God calling you to be more fruitful? Are you practicing hospitality to the strangers you see each day? Are you pursuing earthly treasures or heavenly ones? Do you offer praise to God for all He has done for you? Are you obedient to those in authority over you? Who do you pray for each day?
Take Hebrews 13 into your quiet time and ask God to show you how you can be fruitful for Him. As you pray over these items, God will show you practical ways you can be His hands and feet.
