This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of Him.

As children we are taught to pray: “Now I lay me down to sleep” and “God is great, God is good,” but most adults never go deeper than that. Most people think of God as a magician in a bottle they pull out when things are tough and they can’t handle the situation themselves. This mindset means that we are missing out on a meaningful relationship with the God of the universe.
Simply stated, prayer is conversation with God. Prayer can be a few quick minutes or a long period of sustained prayer. We can talk to God while driving the kids to school or we can find a quiet place and spend several minutes with Him. It is all prayer.
Why do we need to talk with God? God wants to talk to us. He made us and He loves us. He wants to spend time with us. He wants to have a growing relationship with us.
One way to pray is to acknowledge who God is and to praise Him. God is the creator of the universe and the Creator of man. Have you praised Him today for either of those attributes? Right now, stop and simply tell God how great He is. He wants to hear from you.
