Yesterday, we celebrated the Fourth of July, a celebration of the freedom of a nation. This was freedom from the tyranny of a ruler who imposed unjust costs on the early settlers. This freedom came at a cost of many lives and countless sacrifices. The end result was a nation that has prospered for over 200 years.
Likewise, we have been freed from the bondage of sin through the sacrifice made by Christ. Through His death and resurrection, we have been freed from the bonds of sin.
The rule of the devil, a harsh task master who would claim our very soul if the sacrifice had not been made, has been vanquished.
As we celebrate our nation’s freedom, let us also celebrate our spiritual freedom in Christ and His eternal kingdom.
