A Gift from God

Heart Hug From God – Daily Devotional

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.

I Corinthians 12:4-6

What gifts has God given you?  If you had to list your strengths what would they be?  Your strengths are God’s gifts, and His expectation is that you use them for His glory.  Are you doing that?

In 1 Corinthians, Paul reminds us to think about our physical bodies and all the different parts.  Eyes function differently from hands, which function differently from knees; but all of the parts are still very necessary.  Not all parts are visible and not all that are visible are beautiful, but nevertheless, they are necessary.  It’s the same with each of us in the body of Christ – HIS Church. God has given us all different gifts and He calls us to use those gifts as the different members of his body.  Some of us have wisdom and spiritual insight, while others of us have the gift of healing. Regardless of the gift, we are all gifted in some way, and we are all necessary in Christ’s family.

Not sure what your strengths are?  Ask a friend.  Your friends and family are close enough to you to see what may be a blind spot to you. They may tell you that you work well with children, or that you are compassionate when others are in need.  Whatever they tell you, be sure to verify that with God in prayer. If you are still unclear, just jump in and serve in some capacity at your local church.  There are many opportunities each week to serve. From the nursery, to teaching, to providing food, to greeting – you will be able to find a place to tryout your gifts.  And if you try one and it doesn’t work out, try another.

Prayerfully consider where God would have you serving in His church.  What gift has He given you that you have not been using?  Is it still unwrapped, just waiting for you to open it?
